GAUDIUM PRAHA Mixed Choir
GAUDIUM PRAHA, a mixed choir, was established in 1988 by Vladislav Souček and Zdena Součková, two choirmasters who have been leading the choir up to these days. The core of the singers was originally mostly formed by former members of RADOST PRAHA, a children’s choir. The current number of singers reaches 50. The choir meets regularly once in a week on Wednesday evenings for two hours.
GAUDIUM PRAHA gives regular concerts and participates in choir festivals in Prague as well as around the Czech Republic. It often undertakes tours abroad and organizes concerts with foreign choirs in Prague. It has recorded several CDs.
On a regular basis, the Choir cooperates with the piano player and répétiteur Jitka Nešverová and Marek Valášek’s Piccola Orchestra.
Its repertoire comprises pieces of various genres starting with sacred music and Renaissance and Baroque polyphonies up to modern authors, including classical choir masterpieces, gospels, and folk music.
The singers of the choir are also members of the Czech Sokol Organization, Královské Vinohrady unit, Prague.
GAUDIUM PRAHA is always happy to welcome new members who like to sing and are willing to devote part of their free time to singing under competent guidance of experienced choirmasters.
